Season over for Timrå – fell after the nightmare start

Despite a solid pick-up, Timrå’s season is over.
The nightmare start in the second meeting with Rögle was devastating.
– We shoot and shoot, but it doesn’t want to go in, says assistant coach Morten Madsen to TV4 during the 2-3 loss.

Already today, Timrå’s season could be over. After the loss in the first round of 16 meeting with Rögle, they found themselves at a disadvantage early on when the meeting turned towards home.

Already after six minutes it was 1-0 for Rögle through Dennis Everberg and before two more minutes had passed, 2-0 was also a fact. That time it was Albin Sundsvik who found the net on the power play. That was also the position before the first break.

– The nightmare of nightmares if you look at the home team, says TV4’s expert Niklas Wikegård in the broadcast.

Despite the situation, Emil Pettersson was not particularly depressed when he stood at TV4’s microphone.

– Apart from the goals, I think we have the match where we need to be. We have good energy and good riding. We just have to keep getting the puck there and do that little bit extra to score the goals and catch up, he says in the broadcast.

Early in the second period, it was also 3-0 for Rögle through young Axel Smeds and above all the American Michael Kapla, who played until the cage was open.

– It wasn’t difficult, just putting it in, says Smeds to TV4 after the second period and continues about getting to play in the first chain with Anton Bengtsson and Rodrigo Abols:
– It’s quite simple, they make it easy for me. I just try to play my game, work hard and be tough to face.

Fell despite the late push: “Damn disappointed”

While Rögle showed high efficiency, Timrå had a tough time getting it going offensively. After two periods, the shots were 19–9, but still the home team was still at a single goal in the match series.

The third period also continued in that manner.

– We shoot and shoot, but it doesn’t want to go in, says assistant coach Morten Madsen to TV4 with about ten minutes left.

In the end it bounced right. Expulsions of Rögle gave the power play and six against four twice again. Both times it led to shots in the post in Timrå’s open cage and reductions. First 1–3 through Jonathan Dahlén and then 2–3 through Magnus Pääjärvi.

Timrå then continued to press in five against four in the final minutes, but could not get 3-3. Thus, the last game of the season was played for Timrå.

– Of course, I want to end with us moving on from where it is. I’m damn disappointed. We let the situations go, but we don’t charge for the offensive either, says Timrå coach Ante Karlsson to TV4 after the loss.
