One of the biggest innovations in the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is the additional story “The Connected Future”. This additional story will be about ten to twelve hours long if you focus solely on the main story. If you also took care of the side quests, you should be busy for up to 20 hours. The information comes from the Weekly Famitsu via Gematsu. Tetsuya Takahashi (Game Director) said that if “The Connected Future” had become a paid download extension, they would have expanded the content even further.
Tetsuya Takahashi also explained that the entire project is considered a remaster and therefore the music or soundtrack was not re-recorded by an orchestra. Instead, the existing music quality was optimized and rearranged. He added that overall sound quality was improved because it would have reduced data compression compared to Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
The revised and expanded version of the Wii role-playing game from 2011 will be released on May 29, 2020 for Switch (price: 59.99 euros). The Definitive Edition includes the new additional plot “The Connected Future”, newly mixed pieces of music, improved graphics (especially in the characters) and revised game mechanics. The combat menu and menu screens should be easier to read and use.
