Julian Draxler, who is currently on loan to Benfica from Paris Saint-Germain, is suffering a serious setback: the season seems to have gone well for him.
Julian Draxler has undergone ankle surgery and will probably miss Benfica for the rest of the season. The operation on the left ankle of the German midfielder, who is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the summer, took place in Lisbon on Friday. This was announced by the Portuguese record champions.
As the Portuguese daily newspaper “Record” reports, the surgery for Draxler also means the end of the season. The loan to Benfica will end unhappily: In 18 competitive games, the 2014 world champion only scored twice, and coach Roger Schmidt only let the 29-year-old play more than 90 minutes once. Draxler’s contract in Paris runs until 2024.
