Season 8 starts on Sony AXN

The eighth season of the Chicago PD series celebrates its German premiere on SONY AXN on Wednesday, September 8th at 9 pm. It starts right away with the first three episodes of the 16-part season in a row. The individually broadcast episodes will then be available for seven days in the Sony AXN media libraries.

Responding to the shooting of a five-year-old girl, the team must work on the case while confronting new obstacles arising from heightened awareness of police reform. Kevin Atwater (Laroyce Hawkins) is targeted by a group of officers, and Hank (Jason Beghe) wonders if he’s made for a new form of policing.

Many police series from the USA have to ask themselves at the moment whether and how they will incorporate current developments into their upcoming seasons. The makers of “Chicago PD“Have decided to tackle the issue of police reform in season eight. Actress Nicole Ari Parker (Empire, Rosewood, I’m Dying Up Here) has been hired in a recurring role as Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller. She comes from Atlanta and is considered to be “a progressive, passionate advocate of police reform“. She wants to help Voight and the rest to adjust to the new reality, but has no tolerance for violations of the new guidelines and protocols. For the first time she will be seen at the beginning of the season.

Lisseth Chavez aka Vanessa Rojas, on the other hand, will no longer be there in the eighth season, but for the DC– The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow comic series switch.

Chicago PD“Is not only set in Chicago, but is also shot in the turbulent city in the American state of Illinois. The series had already been extended by an eighth, ninth and tenth season in the first quarter of 2020 (more information can be found here).
