Created, performed and produced, directed and primarily written by Donald Glover, “Atlanta” is currently one of the most acclaimed dramatic comedies in recent television history, winning a legion of fans since its premiere on FX in 2016, with a total of two Golden Gloves and five Emmys.
The pandemic reportedly halted development in its third and fourth seasons, which finally began this year with their back-to-back filming, but the production’s great success saw Donald Glover receive a lucrative original content development contract for Amazon Prime.

“Atlanta” follows the misadventures of Earnest “Earn” Marks, a young adult in his thirties who seeks redemption in the eyes of his ex-girlfriend Van, the mother of his daughter, in addition to helping his cousin Alfred in his path to fame in rap under the pseudonym Paper Boi, addressing in each of his subplots some social issues.
Last April, Donald Glover shared a photo from the film set, celebrating the first day on the job of the show’s third season. After various speculations about its premiere, John Landgraf, head of the FX network, revealed that “Atlanta” is preparing to return to the air in the first half of 2022.

In a recent conversation with The Wrap, Landgraf commented, “We haven’t yet closed the season three schedule. You have finished filming. It was shot mostly in Europe, really, and it’s in post-production. But it’s a long post-production process ”.
Landgraf says the main reason for the long post-production process is that the creative team is still working on the fourth season of “Atlanta,” whose scripts are already fully finished. The executive said he was thrilled with the scripts for both seasons and that the Season 3 premiere date may be revealed in the coming months.
