– We have carried out a search and looked for the vehicle. We haven’t seen anything about it, and there has gradually been a lot of uncertainty in relation to where exactly the car might be, says operations manager Dan Erik Johannessen to Firda just after midnight, on the night of Wednesday.
Tonight, the police searched for a 70-year-old man. He is said to have driven to Nærøyfjorden to paddle there on Monday evening, the West Police District reports on Twitter.
The police do not have certain indications that he has actually paddled in this area. The man drives a red Toyota Hiace, with a red kayak on the roof
Operations manager Johannessen says the police have so far done what they can in the area they were first informed about, without success. The main rescue center has searched with a rescue helicopter, even without finding anything.
– We don’t have a concrete place where we can set up a search operation with volunteers as of now, says the operations manager.
The police have no operational assignments around midnight, and work to follow up on tips.
– We have received some small tips which we have investigated without coming close to any solution, Johannessen says and adds that the tip deals with observations of the car.
According to Bergens Tidende should there be talk of an observation of a similar car in Gudvangen and around Stalheimskleiva.
Johannessen tells Firda that the police have opened a case and started an investigation. He says that in such cases information is often obtained from, for example, bank transactions and autopass passes.
