“Search Operation for Missing Children in Colombia after Plane Crash Intensifies with Military and Tracking Dogs”

SEARCH ACTION: The military is looking for the children with tracking dogs.

For over two weeks, the children have been missing after a plane crash in Colombia. The country’s president announced that the children had been found alive – but now withdraws the claim. Findings nevertheless indicate that they may have survived the crash.

It has been 18 days since a plane with seven passengers crashed in Guaviare, Colombia. Three adults were found dead. However, a large search operation has been underway in the Amazon jungle for the four children on board, who are 11 months, four years, nine years and 13 years old.

Their mother is one of the deceased passengers.

On Wednesday, Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro, tweeted that the children on board the plane had been found alive. It reported, among other things CBS.

Now he takes back the claim.

“I have decided to take it away because the information provided by the ICBF could not be verified. I’m sorry for what happened. The military forces and the indigenous people will continue in their tireless quest to give the country the news it is waiting for,” he writes on Twitter.

Findings suggest survival

Over 100 soldiers have contributed to the search for the children.

According to CBS, the owner of the plane that crashed, Avainline Charters, said that one of its pilots in the search area had been told that the children had been found alive and that they were being transported by boat.

The company also said there had been no official confirmation.

But findings indicate that there is hope that the children may have survived the plane crash.

The military has previously said that the search operation was intensified after they came across a “shelter built in an improvised way with sticks and branches”.

In photos released by the military, scissors, shoes and hair ties can also be seen between branches. A drink bottle and half-eaten pieces of fruit had also been discovered before they found the shelter.

DRINKING BOTTLE: This is one of the findings that may indicate that the children survived the plane crash.

The children are from the indigenous Huitoto community, which is known for living in the remote jungle. The community develops skills in hunting, fishing and gathering.

It is not yet known what caused the plane crash.

But CBS writes that Colombia’s disaster response has reported that the pilot reported problems with the plane’s engine just minutes before it disappeared from radar.

Air transport is common in the region, as there are few roads and it is difficult to transport via the river.
