On Thursday, the police will start looking for the missing woman in Stavern again, of whom there has been no sign of life for more than a month.
Snow melting
– The fact that there has now been a period of a lot of snow melting and higher temperatures has meant that the police have today started the search for the woman again, says Ole Jacob Garder, who is a police attorney in the South-East police district of Varden.
The police are searching in the area they have searched in the past, which is, among other things, at the Signalen hiking destination and near the couple’s home.
– The search will primarily take place in areas that have previously been searched, with the hope that we will be able to find the woman. This has been the most important focus of the police all along, and will hopefully be able to give us important answers in the case. No assessment has been made on how long the search will last, but this is being assessed on an ongoing basis, he says.
Missing since New Years
The woman in her 40s has been missing since 2 January, when her partner was found dead in their shared home.
The woman was charged with murder before, but the police have subsequently come out and said that the suspicion has been greatly weakened. She is still formally charged, but the police are now working on several theories about what may have happened.
The police, the Red Cross and other volunteers have been looking for the woman in the local area, but the search has been difficult due to the weather.
– Continuous assessments
– The weather conditions have not been on the police’s side in the search for the missing woman. Large amounts of snow, very low temperatures with subsequent rain, wind and mild weather have made the search conditions demanding for both police and volunteers, says Garder.
The search was therefore put on hold, but now the weather has changed and the police will start up again on Thursday.
