On July 8, local authorities said they had already given up hope that any living people could be rescued from the rubble. The search for survivors was then stopped, but the remains of victims were still being sought.

No one found alive
No one was rescued alive from the rubble after the disaster. On July 1, two dead children were found:

The building largely collapsed on the night of June 23 to 24. More than four weeks after the disaster, it is still unclear what caused it.
Ten more buildings
Three years ago, however, there had been a warning about the condition of the forty-year-old building on the coast. It has since been revealed that at least ten apartment buildings in the Miami region have worrying architectural defects, such as crumbling concrete.
The owners must take immediate action. The rickety buildings are now considered unsafe buildings.
