Search for an Alien Civilization, Scientists Scan 60 Million Stars

Suara.com – The Milky Way has 100 billion stars and most of them have planets orbiting them. With such numbers, statistically there should be alien civilizations out there.

Through a project Breakthrough Listen from the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) survey, para scientist observe 60 million stars heading towards the galactic center in search of civilizations alien.

The team collected 600 hours of data using the Green Bank Radio Telescope in West Virginia and CSIRO’s Parkes Radio Telescope in Australia.

In observations published on The Astronomical Journal, the team did not find any signal.

However, experts detect intentionally emitted signals, known as technosignatures such as optical or microwave signals in this search.

Despite finding no aliens, the survey shows the technological achievements of the search for an alien civilization in outer space.

“We compare the sensitivity of our survey with several leading SETI surveys and show that our survey has an extraordinary sensitivity over a range of frequencies that has never been explored,” write the experts.

Reporting from IFL Science, Friday (7/5/2021), there is no sure way to find alien life. But looking for technosignatures that are easier to find makes experts hope to find them.
