(Keystone-SDA) Search engines will remain the most used online services in Switzerland in 2024. Despite a boom in AI tools such as ChatGPT or Gemini, more than 80 percent rely on Google and Co. This was the result of a survey on data trust by the comparison service Comparis.
Search engines are used more frequently by people over 55 than by younger people. Comparis announced on Thursday that there was a trend towards weaker use of emails. Five years ago, 86 percent used email providers; in 2024 it will be 78.4 percent. Messenger services have become more important compared to 2019 and their usage share is 77 percent.
Invoice enjoys a high level of trust
Swiss people feel safe when shopping with digital payment methods. Twint is the clear front runner, it was said. On a trust scale of 1 to 10, Twint achieves an average of 7.2. In comparison with analogue payment methods, Twint comes in second place. The invoice is considered the safest means of payment with an average of 8.1.
Debit cards slipped to fourth place compared to last year, with a score of 6.9. Comparis sees the reason for this as the increased use of smartphones as a means of payment.
The Swiss have the greatest trust in banks and authorities when it comes to the serious handling of customer data. However, this trust has shrunk significantly compared to 2019, as Comparis wrote.
