MONTREAL – Despite the NHL’s decision not to send its players to the Beijing Olympics next month, Canadiens fans will still be able to follow at least one member of the organization into the prestigious tournament.

Indeed, forward Sean Farrell, hope of the Canadians, was called upon to wear the colors of his country. USA Hockey released its roster of 25 players early Thursday evening.
The native of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, is eligible to participate in the tournament since he is not under contract with the NHL and is currently playing in the university ranks.
Farrell, the 2020 fourth-round pick, is in his first year in the NCAA with Harvard University, after enjoying a record USHL season in 2020-21 in which he had 101 points (29 G, 72 A ) in 53 games and had been named League Most Valuable Player.
He has 19 points (8 G, 11 A) in 13 games this season with the Crimson in the NCAA ECAC.
The Olympic men’s hockey tournament begins on February 9 in Beijing.
