Seattle Seahawks (3-2) – New York Giants (2-3): 20-30
Seattle is surprised at home by New York.
Mike McDonald’s players are recording their second consecutive loss of the season. The opposite in the game against the Lions where they lose in exciting fashion, the way to defeat is now much more worrying. The offense did not have a great night, with Geno Smith being sacked 7 times against a great New York defense, led by Dexter Lawrence in the oven and the mill (3 sacks).
The Giants offense was able to count on an effective Daniel Jones. But the real heroes are rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and receiver Darius Slayton.
New York surprised
The first period saw control of New York. The visitors monopolized the ball for a good part of the game. Unfortunately, on their 3-point offensive line, they had mixed fortunes, not allowing themselves a halftime lead.
First, they concede points after an unfortunate fumble by Eric Gray near the opening of the scoring, return for … 101-yard touchdown by Rayshawn Jenkins. Then, they turned with Wan’Dale Robinson (6 REC, 40 yards, TD), well found by Daniel Jones (23/34, 295 yards, 2 TDs). Finally, they waste an opportunity with this same Robinson committing a costly loose ball, not allowing the Giants to regain the lead.
And the Seahawks in all of this? There isn’t much to sink your teeth into. Only 90 yards were covered with 2 small yards rushing for poor Kenny Murray III (5 rushes, 19 yards, 7 REC, 57 yards). However, at halftime, the Seahawks still managed to be tied with their opponent. This is almost a stoppage of Mike McDonald’s team’s poor offensive first period.
A lot of waste in the attack in Seattle
In the second half the Seahawks will see a series of offensive mistakes. DK Metcalf (4 REC, 55 yards) boastingcovered by the front team. Then, a bad play call allows Brian Burns to sack Geno Smith (28/40, 356 yards, TD) on a 4th attempt. Finally, a few minutes from the end of the game, the only offensive lineman is Jaxon Smith-Njigba (4 REC, 31 yards, TD) who does not catch a ball even though it is thrown well by the quarterback his
This action should have allowed Seattle to equalize. However, Jason Myers sees his kick blocked by Isaiah Simmons. Bryce Ford-Wheaton took advantage of the opportunity to score his first career goal. An evening where many firsts happened for the Giants side.
Great tonight, Darius Slayton (8 REC, 122 yards, TD) scored his first touchdown of the season, making us forget that Malik Nabers wasn’t there. Very visible on the ground after Eric Gray’s blunders, Tyrone Tracy Jr. got. (18 rushes, 130 yards) his first game with over 100 yards rushing, taking advantage of Devin Singletary’s absence. Finally, this is also the first time since the 2020 season that the Giants have won two straight away from home.
