Sea Water Quality Analysis Conducted by Constanța Public Health Directorate Along Black Sea Coastline

Thus, the inspectors of the Directorate of Public Health (DSP) from Constanța planned to conduct sea water quality analysis at regular fortnightly intervals. Samples will be collected from 50 points along the coast in order to assess water quality and identify possible health risks.

Water from the Black Sea, contaminated with dangerous bacteria

The decision is due to the fact that the last report of the Constanța Public Health Directorate, drawn up last year, brought attention to a problem related to the quality of water in the Black Sea. According to the document, In some areas, the water was contaminated with dangerous bacteria, which can cause serious health problems, especially in children. The warning emphasized the importance of taking appropriate measures to protect health during contact with seawater.

Then, specialists from the Constanța Public Health Directorate presented the results regarding the quality of bathing water. According to them, two beaches in Eforie were at the top in terms of the concentration of E.coli and enterococci bacteria on the entire coast. Both E.coli and enterococcus are bacteria normally present in the human gut.

Information panels were placed on the beach

Information on beach water quality can be accessed by tourists directly from the website of the Directorate of Public Health, and will soon be available on the information panels located on the beach.

“We have 35 beach panels that are already ready and will be placed in the next period. On the beach panels, information can be found from two points of view: once as water quality determined by the water classification, which is obtained after the analysis of several data, for the previous four years is analyzedand also on that panel we also have an analysis bulletin from that week, which gives information on the recent quality of the bathing water”, said Luiza Căruceru, a doctor specializing in environmental hygiene, according to doctorulzilei.ro.
