The first problems arose in the afternoon of Friday when, after the storm that hit the city of Arechifrom the drainage of the Mercatello torrent, in the neighbourhood of the same name eastern areadark, putrid and smelly water gushed out in abundance, carrying with it debris and, above all, the remains of dead animals, especially rats, which in a few minutes had ruined everything.
And the situation repeated itself yesterday morningeven in the absence of rain, in the easternmost part of the city, Torre Angellarawhere it appeared almost suddenly a large black, oily spot near the shore which triggered the intervention of the Port Authority with sampling of the “suspicious” liquid and temporary ban on swimming. Dirty water which, according to initial findings, reached the sea from the Mariconda stream drainage.
