A completely burnt out mobile home at Slot Cranendonck holiday park in Soerendonk, which is under Peter Gillis. The fire was discovered by guests of the park at half past two in the morning. They immediately raised the alarm. The police are investigating the fire.
When the fire brigade arrived, flames were burning meters high from the mobile home.
Bottle of gas
The holiday park staff quickly directed the fire brigade to the correct location. The fire brigade managed to secure a gas cylinder. Not much was left of the mobile home itself.
The extension and shed were also badly damaged by the sea of flames. Part of a nearby tree was blackened.
A woman heard voices
A neighbor heard voices around his chalet last night. “Much later I heard a crash, like something was on fire. I looked outside and everything was orange. It was completely on fire.”
According to a campsite employee, no one stayed in the chalet during the fire. “The huts around him were also empty. There was no danger to the area, as far as I know.”
The worker does not know how the fire started. Police say a forensic investigation is still ongoing during the discovery investigation. “This is now a crime scene,” police said.
Burning is not prohibited
The police went out of the area to investigate. Arson cannot be ruled out.
Witnesses are being heard.
