The game got off to a rocky start and drew valid criticism for its lack of activities to do. But ever since Sea of Thieves was released, Rare has been constantly expanding it with free expansions of any scale, and its biggest expansion so far – A Pirate’s Life – just launched a few months ago and reached the number of players at one time in June.
All these efforts have been sweet as the number of gamers continues to climb. Back in March, Rare announced that the number of pirates in its game had exceeded 20 million, and about half a year later this number had risen again. In a long article on Xbox Wire, Executive Producer of Rare, Joe Neate, Thanks to the community and reports that Sea of Thieves has now surpassed 25 million players.
This achievement will be celebrated with great fanfare and in keeping with the game’s theme by giving all digital pirates playing the game from now, until October 26, a special login bonus of 25,000 gold and 25 Doubloons. Even more exciting, one player will be randomly selected to get 25 million gold at the end of this period.
