COACH Vietnam U-23 National Team, Park Hang-seoofficially resigned from his position after bringing the team to win the gold medal SEA Games 2021. In the final match which was held at My Dinh Stadium, Sunday 22 May 2022 evening WIB, the Vietnam U-23 National Team won 1-0 over the U-23 Thailand National Team.
Even though he left the Vietnam U-23 national team coach, it did not mean that the South Korean tactician had left Uncle Ho’s country. The South Korean coach left the Vietnam U-23 national team to focus on improving the senior team.
Later, the position of coach from Park Hang-seo’s legacy will be occupied by Gong Oh-kyun. This figure is no stranger to football lovers in the country.
Just to note, Gong Oh-kyun is a former assistant coach to Shin Tae-yong in the Indonesian national team in the 2019-2020 period. Since being appointed by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in November 2017, Park Hang-seo has been trusted to coach two teams at once, namely the U-23 and senior teams.
Three months after taking office, Park Hang-seo led the Vietnam U-23 national team to finish runner-up in the 2018 U-23 Asian Cup. In the same year, Park Hang-seo also brought the Vietnam U-23 national team to qualify for the semifinals of the Asian Games which was held in Indonesia.
Then at the senior level, Park Hang-seo bring the team to win the AFF Cup 2018! However, VFF sees Park Hang-seo must focus on holding a team if the achievements of the Vietnam senior national team can be boosted.
Just to note, in 2021 the Vietnam national team will get poor results. Nguyen Quang Hai and his friends were devastated in the third round of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, and failed to defend the AFF Cup (2020) title.
(When will Shin Tae-yong focus on the senior Indonesian national team?)
Now the question is, when will Shin Tae-yong want to leave the position of the U-19 and U-23 Indonesian National Teams to focus on the senior team? Since being appointed by PSSI as coach of the Indonesian national team in December 2019, Shin Tae-yong believed to gush three teams at once.
The number of national teams held made Shin Tae-yong’s focus split. Take, for example, mid-March 2022. When Shin Tae-yong should have focused on the FIFA Matchday March 2022 with the senior squad, he was instead busy with the agenda for the Indonesian U-19 national team training camp in South Korea.
As a result, the senior Indonesian national team was canceled for the FIFA Matchday March 2022. At the same time because it was too focused on the U-19, Shin Tae-yong seemed to ignore the U-23 Indonesian national team which was prepared to appear at the 2021 SEA Games.
It was noted that the U-23 Indonesian National Team only had three weeks of preparation before participating in the 2021 SEA Games. As a result, a gold medal SEA Games 2021 failed to win the Indonesian U-23 national team.
