– During the weekend, there has been a wide discussion in the opposition circle about the Minister of Social Affairs and Health Kaisa Juuson about the capabilities to lead one of our country’s key ministries, says Berg in the press release.

Berg reminds that social and health services are the deepest core of the welfare state. According to Berg, people must be able to trust that the ministry responsible for these vital services is headed by a minister who takes his task with the seriousness it requires.

– Since Minister Juuso has given reason to question whether he is up to his duties with his own actions, SDP is calling all opposition groups together today to discuss Minister Juuso’s trust, the release states.

In an interview with Helsingin Sanomat published on Saturday, Juuso said that he was surprised that the government plans to cut 100 million euros by limiting the range of social care services. A lively discussion arose from the statement of the responsible minister.

In the interview, Juuso also said that he believed that the range of services for special care could possibly be limited by updating the Käypä hoito recommendations. The background is the government’s policy during the framework crisis that by limiting the range of services in specialized medical care, savings of 70 million euros are aimed for.

Already earlier in the spring, Iltalehti has reported on Minister Juuso’s activities, such as the fact that the Ministry is preparing to cut the tasks of hospitals and limit public services, but Minister Juuso has avoided reporting on them.

The Left Alliance has already announced that it will present a vote of no confidence in Juuso. If Orpo’s government holds the no-confidence vote on Friday, Juuso will continue as minister.
