SDG&E customers will see a credit on their bill in October

SAN DIEGO – California’s Climate Credit program will give San Diego Gas & Electric customers a $78.22 credit on their October energy bill, it was announced Tuesday.

The program, administered by the California Public Utilities Commission, is part of the state’s effort to combat climate change.

“We appreciate working with the California Public Utilities Commission to roll out the Climate Credit and provide some financial relief to our customers,” said Dana Golan, SDG&E’s vice president of services. customer “Anyone who is having trouble paying their bill is invited to contact us. We are here to connect them with financial assistance programs.”

In April, SDG&E customers received a $58.98 credit for natural gas. The credits come from California’s Cap-and-Trade Program that “requires polluters to pay for climate pollution,” according to the CPUC statement. The credits were distributed in April and in October every year.

Billing cycles vary, so not everyone will see the credit on their bill at the same time in October, but no action is required to get it. All gas and electricity customers will be automatically credited, including community choice collection customers and prime metered customers.
