The last regions returned their copies on October 1, 2023, as a prelude to the elective Congress at the head of the party.
That’s it. THE Social democratic front (SDF) completed the operations to renew its governing bodies on October 1st. With in particular the Western and Littoral regions which were lagging behind and which focused all the attention. Thus, in the Littoral, the powerful and thunderous Jean Michel Nitcheu, recently excluded from the ranks of the party, was replaced by the former mayor Job Théophile Kwapnang. At the end of a particularly bitter election. In the West, we will now have Nzeundie Maurice as leader. As for the Center, it will be directed by Jean Bitongo.
The operations to renew the governing bodies of the SDF were not an easy test to validate. Launched in a context of struggle for the succession of Ni John Fru Ndi at the head of the party, these operations were marked by internal struggles, which took away a good part of the early executives. Between supporters of a return to extremism and those who now opt for “collaboration” with the power in Yaoundé, the Chairman had taken up the cause of the latter, led by the honorable Joshua Osih, first vice-president.
And the vice-God who had already succeeded in placing his men in key positions in the party authorities, now has free rein to continue the work of the leader of May 26, 1990. All the strong heads lined up behind Jean Michel Nitcheu and the former secretary general Jean Tsomelou, were put out of action; and now most of the executives are young guns who have had a place in the sun with the ouster of the old executives. Eight of the ten newly elected presidents are young. Among, Mbida Belinga Felix Gildas who is only thirty years old and who intends to use this asset to establish more solidly than his predecessors, the Balance Party in the Southern region, reputed to be closed to the opposition.

The renewal of the basic organs completed, the position of national president of the party remains. The race has been underway for many months. If the receipt of candidate files was completed on September 24, the party’s communication underlines that the doors were not yet definitively closed, as the regions still in the process of renewing their governing bodies still had a chance to compete. Especially since it is the presidents of the regional constituencies who should be responsible for transmitting the files of the candidates from their regions. In the meantime, three candidates had already announced themselves: Gordon Zama, Jestel Shewa and Joshua Osih. The delegates will decide on October 27 at the Palais des Sports in Yaoundé.
