SDF: At least three candidates to succeed John Fru Ndi

Jestel Shewa wants to succeed Fru Ndi

In the race for the succession of It’s John Fru, at least three candidates have announced themselves. In addition to Joshua Osih, whose candidacy was now an open secret, it was announced Gordon Zama and Jester Shewa. The current first vice-president has been leading the party’s affairs since Ni John Fru Ndi stepped aside due to health problems. The native of the South-West benefits from the support of a good fringe of current executives, since the sidelining of the radical wing led by Jean Miche Nitcheu. The man who remained at the Chairman’s bedside at the moment of the man’s last breath, has left his mark on organ renewal and has nothing to worry about.

On the other hand, opposite, two seemingly lightweights want to be respected. Gordon Zama is a former president of the Fako constituency. The man is struggling to establish himself locally against the Rdpc, the ruling party, but is convinced of being able to carry on the legacy of Ni John Fru Ndi. Jester Shewa he too comes from the Donga Mantung constituency. The man whose godfather is the honorable Awdu Bada, nonetheless claims a political affiliation with the late historic leader of the party. By announcing his intention to run for the presidency of the party last August, the man advocated internal reconciliation, proposed peace, justice, and total transparency for the entire nation.

The Coast and the West lagging behind

If these three applications were received by the deadline of September 24, 2023, the doors are not definitively closed: “ You should know that the Littoral and the West have not yet held their regional conferences”warns Henry Seizures Come on, National Communications Secretary of the party. Stating that “ we asked that the applications arrive on time [mais c’est] the regional president [qui] must convey all this“. These two regions are among those which were controlled by the leaders of the party, grouped within the G27+ (group of dissidents who contest the direction of the party as defined by Joshua Osih) and who had blocked the electoral process, not agreeing with the unofficial leadership of Joshua Osih. Clearly, the man admits that there may still be new applications.

After completing the receipt of the files, the electoral commission will have to meet to study the different candidacies and validate them. Then a meeting of the Nec (National executive committee) is planned for October 7. It is after this meeting that the final turn will be initiated, towards the elective Congress which will elect the successor of John Fru Ndi. It will be October 28.
