[더구루=한아름 기자] SD Biosensor Donates COVID-19 and HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)/Syphilis Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Kits to South Africa. It is interpreted as a willingness to spread good influence through social contribution activities to celebrate World AIDS Day on the 1st of next month.
According to SD Biosensor on the 20th, it will donate approximately 600 rapid diagnostic kits for corona antigen and HIV/syphilis to Sediba Hope Medical Center. Sediba Medical Center is a medical institution located in Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa.
Sediba Medical Center plans to use the SD Biosensor Diagnostic Kit to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and HIV among Tshwane residents.
Vanessa Hetzer, CEO of Sediba Medical Center, said, “We thank SD Biosensor for its invaluable help,” and added, “The diagnostic kit will be used to navigate the public health crisis.”
Meanwhile, according to South African statistics, South Africa has the largest number of HIV carriers and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients in the world. Approximately 13.7% of the total population was found to be infected with HIV. AIDS is an infectious disease caused by HIV infection. According to UNAIDS data, some 650,000 people died from AIDS-related diseases last year.
