Canadian-American actress Sarah Chalke, 46, and her boyfriend, lawyer Jamie Afifi, have separated. The couple split “a while ago,” a spokesperson for the former Scrubs actress confirmed to People magazine.

The two want to continue playing their role as parents and remain “good friends”. The couple got engaged in 2006 but never married in the following years. The two have two children together, son Charlie, 12, and daughter Frances, 6.

Chalke first rose to fame in the 1990s with the role of Becky Connor on the sitcom Roseanne. In 2001 she slipped into the role of Elliot Reid in the television series Scrubs, which she held until 2010. Further appearances in series such as “How I Met Your Mother”, “Cougar Town”, “Speechless” or “Friends from College” followed. In the subsequent series of “Roseanne” “The Conners” (from 2018) she did not play the role of Becky, but a supporting part. With the Netflix series “Always there for you” (originally: “Firefly Lane”) Chalke will return in 2022 in the second season.
