Description of services
Statutory health insurance companies cover the costs of medical early diagnosis examinations for insured children and adolescents, which are also known as U examinations and J examinations. The examinations can be used by children and adolescents up to the age of 18. They are used for the early detection of diseases that endanger their physical, mental or psycho-social development. Up to the age of six, this also includes early detection examinations for tooth, mouth and jaw diseases, e.g. determining the risk of tooth decay and advice on nutrition and oral hygiene.
The Federal Joint Committee regulates the details of the content, type and scope of the examinations in the guideline for the early detection of diseases in children (U1 to U9) of the guideline for youth health examinations (J1).
