From the tests of JerryRigEverything it appears that the screen of the Galaxy Z Flip can be scratched with fingernails. The YouTube channel also found that editing the screen with its hardness picks of level 2 already leaves damage, with deep scratches when using a level 3 point.

That was also the case with the Galaxy Fold and the Motorola Razr, while with average smartphones today damage occurs at level 6 and deep scratches at level 7. Hardness picks have different sharp metal points to test the ‘hardness’ of materials.

The findings make JerryRigEverything doubt whether the Z Flip has a layer of glass, as Samsung claims, or whether it is a hybrid plastic polymer, whether or not mixed with microscopic glass particles. Samsung reports among other things against The Verge that the screen is indeed so-called ultra thin glass contains.
