Christopher Landon takes to X alias Twitter and reveals that he also stung.
Scream 7 must take a total of 180.
Four weeks ago announced Scream-production company Spyglass Media Group that they are firing lead actress Melissa Barrera Scream 7.
She loses her role after posting Instagram posts in support of Palestine. A few hours later, it was announced that Jenna Ortega, who plays the sister of Melissa’s character, is withdrawing from the film.
Now we learn that Scream VII-director Christopher Landon also retired around the same time.
“I guess now is a good time to announce my formal departure Scream 7 several weeks ago. This will disappoint some and please others,” writes the filmmaker X.
“This was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart was broken for everyone involved. All together. But it is time to move on.”
Christopher Landon will not explain what has happened behind the scenes. But he insinuates that it is about Palestine and Israel.
The filmmaker takes the opportunity to pay tribute to veteran Wes Craven, who directed Scream 1-4, and Scream-creator Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two and the fourth.
“I have nothing more to add to the conversation other than I hope Wes’ legacy will flourish and rise above the noise of a divided world. He and Kevin created something amazing, and I was honored to bask in their glow even for the briefest of moments.”
When Spyglass Media Group fired Melissa Barrera in November, Christopher Landon was quick to comment.
“This is my statement: 💔 Everything sucks. Stop screaming. This was not my decision,” he wrote on X.
The narrative of Spyglass is that Jenna Ortega does not back down Scream 7 to show support for her friend Melissa. But that Jenna does not have enough time due to filming Wednesday season 2. The filming of the Netflix series’ second season starts in April, and will take place in Ireland.
Jenna Ortega helped give Scream VI the biggest opening weekend in franchise history.
Melissa’s dismissal coincided with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon being dropped by United Talent Agency (UTA). This is due to her comments in the pro-Palestine demonstration in New York beforehand.
– There are many people who are afraid to be Jewish at this time, and who are getting a taste of what it feels like to be Muslim in this country, it said Blue Beetle– current Hollywood veteran during the demonstration.
Among other things, she asked the protesters to have conversations with Jewish Americans who do not feel safe.
