The SCR Altach has secured its place in the play-off for the last Europa League starting place in the Bundesliga two rounds before the end. The Vorarlbergers, who are still unbeaten in the qualification group, prevailed Saturday 1-0 (1-0) in the new bottom of the WSG Tirol and are only two points behind Vienna Austria, who lost 2-5 at home in St. Pölten.
The Altacher are only two points behind Wiener Austria. With a home win on Tuesday (8:30 p.m.) in a direct duel, they would even take the lead – and thus reach for the home right for the play-off start. The WSG, on the other hand, suddenly has the worst cards in the fight for relegation. Two points are missing on the penultimate Admira.
After a corner kick from Marco Meilinger, Nussbaumer was successful from within a five-meter space. It was the fourth goal of the 20-year-old in the eighth game after the Corona break. There were huge holes in Tyrolean midfield, Altach sometimes had up to 75 percent possession in the first half.
WSG coach Thomas Silberberger initially left his striker Zlatko Dedic and Stefan Maierhofer on the substitute bench for tactical reasons, but had to correct the experiment early. Dedic came into play before the break (34.), Maierhofer in the half.
The WSG was only dangerous on the counterattack by Felix Adjei (18th) and Dedic (45th). On the opposite side, Manfred Fischer hit the top edge of the crossbar shortly after the change of sides (50th). But then the trembling began in the Vorarlbergers.
The Tyroleans found several major opportunities. Kelvin Yeboah came forward with a head (58th) and long-range shot (60th), Maierhofer nailed a ball from a great distance to the crossbar (68th). A shot from Thanos Petsos was directed over the goal (84.), Yeboah also hit the crossbar from the rotation (86.).
Altach saved the win over time, the first after the last three 1-1 draws. It was the third in the fourth season duel with Wattens. The Tyroleans, on the other hand, are now four rounds without a win. In Innsbruck the weakest home team in the league had not been a complete success in five games.
The WSG is under pressure in the two outstanding games against direct competitors in the relegation battle. On Tuesday, the Silberberger-Elf made a guest appearance at SV Mattersburg before going home against Admira on Tuesday.
