Scottish Premier League can be stopped after Dundee | NOW

The Scottish Premier League can be stopped after 75% of clubs agree to end the current season at all professional levels. Championship club Dundee FC provided the deciding vote on Wednesday.

A large majority of clubs voted for the Scottish leagues (SPFL) resolution last Friday. Still, it depended on Dundee FC whether there could actually be a streak through the season.

In the Premier League and League 1 and League 2, that majority of 75 percent was achieved, but in the Championship not yet because Dundee FC was the only club at the second level to refuse.

Dundee FC didn’t really give a reason for that, but the voices were that they didn’t vote because archrival Dundee United – the stadiums of the clubs are right next to each other – was the leader in the Championship.

Lowest three leagues discontinued

The Championship, League 1 and League 2 have already been discontinued by the yes of Dundee FC. Dundee United (Championship), Raith Rovers FC (League 1) and Cove Rangers FC (League 2) have been named champions.

No point has yet been placed behind the Premier League. Although the SFPL now has the power to do so if it is not possible to continue playing football due to the corona crisis, they first want to consult with the top-level clubs.

Celtic is currently at the top with a thirteen-point lead over number two Rangers. They voted against and demand that SPFL boss Neil Doncaster be suspended because they have evidence that the vote was unfair.

UEFA has repeatedly urged all national associations to complete the season where possible. The European Football Association even threatened to take European tickets if countries did not.
