Uashat singer Scott-Pien Picard is certainly the new king of the Pop-Innu scene. The year 2020 will remain etched in his memory for a long time, with the arrival of his first child, but also a lot of success in his career.

In an interview with Arsenal Media earlier this year, he says he started singing at the age of 6, after seeing the band Maten for the first time.

“It was when I saw Maten at the Innu Nikamu Festival that I really got the bite. I told myself that I wanted to be there one day too, on a stage. », He shares.

It was around the age of 12 that Scott started playing the guitar, and started practicing his passion more seriously. His compositions speak a lot of dialogue between humans and create a unifying effect, like his song Makusham, a word of great meaning among the First Nations.

2020 in retrospect

Visibly happy with what has happened to him since his participation in the next-generation show Nikamu Mamuitun at Place des Arts in Montreal in the fall of 2019, Scott-Pien Picard is enjoying rich experiences such as the back-to-school show at the Bell Center, not to mention his victory in the Talents Bleu competition on the program La Semaine des 4 Julie, on Noovo. He shared his $ 100,000 scholarship with his music group, Atikamekw-Innu.

His nomination at the ADISQ 2020 gala in the “Indigenous Artist of the Year” category officially elevates the 24-year-old singer to the rank of professional artist. The only obstacle to his meteoric career progression, the artist from Uashat has seen several of his shows canceled since last March.

Scott Pien-Picard is now working with Pierre Gladu, who becomes his manager for the future. The latter notably manages the careers of Florent Vollant, Hugo and Éric Lapointe.
