Scott McTominay’s Lightning Goal Leads Napoli to Victory Over Como in Thrilling Match

Scotland’s Scott McTominay (1), Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku (53′ from a penalty kick), Brazilian substitute David Neres (86″) scored for Napoli, while fellow Brazilian Gabriel Strevitza (43′) scored for Como.

Napoli raised its score to 16 points at the top, four points behind second-placed Juventus, who play Cagliari on Sunday, and five ahead of Milan, Inter and Torino.

This is the sixth victory in the last seven games for the southern team, which tied in one after a bad start to the season by losing three goals to Verona.

On the other hand, Como suffered its first defeat after three games, and its third in the league, leaving it briefly in tenth place with eight points.

McTominay shocked the visitors with the first goal after just 26 seconds, when he received a ball from Lukaku between two defenders, passed them and fired into the right side of the goal.

This is the third fastest goal for Napoli in the history of the league since the winner’s credit began to get three points, after the goals of Mexican Hirving Lozano against Verona in 2021 (9th second) and Argentinian Ezequiel Lavezzi against Genoa in 2008 (25 seconds).

Strevitza equalized with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area to the right of the goal (43).

Lukaku gave his team the lead again by scoring from a penalty kick (53), which was his third goal with the team in the league.

Substitute Neres got the win seven minutes after his entry, when he slipped between the defenders and took advantage of a beautiful pass from Lukaku to go one-on-one and score (86).

Verona will play Venezia later on Friday.
