Police Scotland has offered a vacancy for the post of Commander-in-Chief, following the retirement of its current Commander-in-Chief Ian Livingston.
Police Scotland said, according to local media, that the salary for this vacancy is 230,000 pounds a year, equivalent to 290,000 US dollars, which is the same salary as the current commander.
The current Scottish police chief, Livingston, announced his intention to retire by this summer, during a recent meeting with the agency’s leadership, to end his 5-year career in this position.
Accordingly, the police launched a campaign to recruit another person to replace him in the force, which is the number two in the United Kingdom.
Police Scotland says it is looking for an “exceptional” candidate who is “a leader able to build on the effectiveness, operational efficiency and achievements of policing in the country”.
And not only that, but the candidate must also be able to make the police adapt to increasingly complex challenges.
Whoever will fill this position will have a two-year contract that can be extended up to a maximum of 5 years, and the appointment is expected to be announced in June.
Applicants for this job will be tested by a number of police chiefs and government officials in the country.
This police force has more than 22,000 members, and has an annual budget of $1.85 billion.
