Scotland: Goalie legend Andy Goram loses battle with cancer

Legendary Scottish goalkeeper Andy Goram died at the weekend of cancer at the age of 58.

Glasgow Rangers have announced that 184-time Rangers goalkeeper Goram has lost a battle with incurable stage 4 esophageal cancer.

The cancer first became known to the “Daily Star” at the end of May, in which the five-time Scottish champion explained: “I thought I only had severe indigestion. It felt as if my esophagus was blocked.” But the visit to the doctor revealed that it was anything but “severe indigestion”.

“I want to be myself”

After a computed tomography, Goram was advised to collect the findings with a relative. That’s when he realized he had cancer. Unfortunately, his guess turned out to be correct.

The doctors found namely: Esophageal cancer in the incurable stage 4 stadium. Because the cancer had spread to his liver, right lung, spine, and several ribs, nothing could be done for Goram. When the word “inoperable” was mentioned, his son Danny is said to have collapsed.

However, Goram was never afraid of death. “Undergoing chemotherapy only to have just an extra three months in agony with no quality of life? Thank you, no! My pain is bearable at the moment. I can still visit friends and fan clubs. I will be here as long as I can and be myself.”
