In 1954, federal sheriff Teddy Daniels takes over the investigation of a case involving the disappearance of a patient from an insane asylum located on an island. Before long, strange events lead him to think he got the case because doctors are experimenting on their patients. Teddy’s instincts turn up a promising lead, but the hospital administration won’t allow him access to the archives that could solve the whole case. When a hurricane cuts off all connections to the mainland, Teddy begins to question everything – his own memories, his partner, even his sanity.
