VITORIA GASTEIZ – Barcelona failed to reap full points when they visited Deportivo Alaves’ headquarters in the 2020-2021 Spanish League continued match on Sunday (1/11/2020). Because Ronald Koeman’s squad was able to hold Alaves with a score of 1-1.
Barcelona even had to struggle to reach the draw. Because Barcelona had left behind since the 31st minute. Antoine Griezmann was lucky to score a goal in the 63rd minute, so Barcelona didn’t at least lose in that match.
The course of the match
First round
Barcelona played very well since the match at the Mendizorrotza Stadium had just started. As usual, Lionel Messi and his friends immediately controlled the game very quickly.
Although the possession of the ball is controlled, Barcelona in fact have difficulty scoring goals. While depressed Alaves rarely held the ball, once mastered they immediately attacked and created an opportunity.
Unfortunately, Barcelona finally felt it when the game entered the 31st minute. Gerard Pique, who intended to provide bait to Neto in the Barcelona penalty area, brought havoc for the club.
Because Neto was apparently not ready to receive a pass from Pique, as a result the goalkeeper’s ball control was poor and finally the ball was released due to pressure from Alaves player, Luis Rioja.
Luis Rioja who got the opportunity was then able to grab the ball from Neto and immediately threw it into the Barcelona goal. The 0-1 score for Barcelona’s loss occurred.
Barcelona several times had the golden opportunity to balance the scoreboard again. However, Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco played well so that the 0-1 score lasted until the first half ended.
Second round
Entering the second half, Barcelona immediately stepped on the gas. They immediately locked Alaves’ defense in order to score the equalizer.
Inevitably, almost all of Alaves’ players came down to defend. As a result, the Barcelona players found it difficult to penetrate the visiting team’s defense.
Every effort was made by Alaves to maintain their superiority. Including the way to play a little bit rough. Unfortunately this method was too risky and Alaves lost Jota in the 62nd minute because he was rewarded with a red card by the referee.
Superior number of players, Barcelona is getting crazy. The efforts of the squad, nicknamed the Blaugrana, eventually bore fruit. Because at 63 minutes. It was Antoine Griezmann who made Barcelona manage to balance the score to 1-1.
Griezmann and Lionel Messi increasingly became the second half remaining. However, all of these opportunities always failed because of Pacheco’s outstanding performances between Alaves’ goal.
Messi and Griezmann actually had time to put the ball into Alaves’ goal. But their goal was disallowed because they had entered the offside trap. Soon the referee ended the match and Barcelona had to settle for various points with Alaves after being held 1-1.
