Score points with education: In the new Offenbach “Bildungspunkt”

Anyone seeking advice on educational topics, advanced training and professional guidance has a central point of contact in Offenbach – the Bildungspunkt. Anyone interested in education, seeking advice, employees and jobseekers, but also companies, will find answers to their questions here.

“The idea for the education points comes from the Hesse Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency. “Behind this, on the one hand, is the challenge of a lack of skilled workers, and on the other hand, the increasingly digital and automated world of work, which requires new skills and qualifications thus making educational subjects and advanced training ever increasing. important,” explained Thomas Iser, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Employment Group Offenbach Basic ideas about the creation of the advice center.

Dirk Wolk-Pöhlmann, head of the Adult Education Center Offenbach, says: “Everyone interested in education has access to accumulated knowledge of education and participation in the city at the Bildungspunkt, with low access options . This relieves the burden on other authorities and institutions in the city and helps citizens to find their own way in terms of education and advanced training.” Sabine Simon, from the municipal further education advisory center of the vhs and the association Hessencampus Offenbach, herself a consultant at the Bildungspunkt, said: “The issue here is not just vocational training and further education. We also advise people on developing ideas, general education or, for example, returning to work after family leave. For concerns that cannot be immediately clarified on site, those seeking advice are accompanied and referred to specific experts for targeted, specific support. We provide individual, neutral and open advice.

“Further training, especially for companies, is an essential part of attracting skilled workers in and for the region and keeping them in the long term. We support the initiative “Bildungspunkt” because we provide quick and non-bureaucratic access to good advice for people interested in education. In addition, we are working together to bring the subject of “vocational training” into greater public focus,” says Markus Weinbrenner, General Manager Offenbach the Main Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

From November 6, citizens can get advice at the educational center in the city of Offenbach, in person, free of charge and without registration. The advice center is open Monday from 9am to 1pm, Tuesday from 1pm to 5pm and Wednesday from 10am to 2pm. The new Offenbach educational space is in the city center, near the city hall on the Platz der Deutschen Unität 4, easily accessible in the contact rooms of the EKO (indoor day care center Offenbach).

Education points have already been created in some towns in Hesse, and more will follow. Since education points will soon be created in the Offenbach region as well as in the city of Offenbach, stakeholders from the city and the region have come together to plan these contact points. Since April 2024, representatives of the adult education center in the city and region of Offenbach, the employment agency and the IHK Offenbach am Main have been planning these educational points. The actors have come together to create an association that operates the educational points together with other network partners.
