Scoot Acquires E190-E2 Aircraft: A New Chapter for the Singaporean Low-Cost Airline

Singaporean low-cost airline Scoot has acquired the E190-E2 aircraft from Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. The first E190-E2 aircraft was delivered to Scoot at Embraer’s production facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil, on 11 April 2024.

The plane then took off from Brazil on 12 April 2024 and did several refuels before being greeted with a water cannon fire when it arrived in Singapore.

The Chief Executive Officer, Scoot, Leslie Thng, said that his party was very happy with the arrival of this aircraft.

“We are delighted to receive our first E190-E2 aircraft in Singapore today. This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for Scoot and is possible thanks to the hard work of our employees and the support of our renowned partners, including the Civic. The Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Changi Airport Group (CAG), Embraer, and SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) who have been working closely with us over the past year to ensure that the aircraft E190-E2 ready for operation,” he said in a written statement, Monday (15/4/2024).

“We look forward to welcoming our customers with our new aircraft soon,” he said.

For your information, Scoot is a low-cost airline that is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA). Scoot began flying in June 2012 and merged with Tigerair Singapore in July 2017, retaining the Scoot brand.

To date, Scoot has flown more than 82 million passengers. Scoot has a fleet of more than 50 aircraft that includes wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners and single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft. By 2024, Scoot plans to add the Embraer E190-E2 to its fleet. Scoot’s flight network currently covers 67 destinations in 15 countries and regions in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.
