Eichmann replaces Bayer in Langnau – there is also a hot candidate as head coach

Marco Bayer will take over as U 20 national coach at the association on July 1st. The SCL Tigers have released their sports manager without a transfer fee and are promoting goalkeeper coach Marc Eichmann to the new sports manager. It is becoming increasingly clear that Rikard Franzén will be the new head coach.

His contract would have run until December 31. Now the association will take over Marco Bayer from July 1st and the Langnauer will save six monthly wages of their sports manager, who they would have fired either way as of December 31st. Reason enough to forego a transfer fee for early release.

Now goalkeeper coach Marc Eichmann has been promoted to head of sports. He is already on the SCL Tigers payroll, so there are no new costs and the hiring freeze is preserved. The Board of Directors unanimously approved this solution last night. No further new hires are planned in times of crisis.

According to the will of the board of directors, Marco Bayer should “serve” his remaining term of office and incorporate his successor Marc Eichmann – so to speak as “Lame Duck” (“lame duck”): this is what the Americans call their president in the last few weeks of his office, if he can no longer influence important decisions.

Since Marco Bayer’s attempt to give his buddy Lars Leuenberger the head coach job failed due to the veto of the board of directors, the search for a new coach has been suspended. Lars Leuenberger is now becoming an assistant to the new SCB trainer to be determined.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Langnau’s previous assistant Rikard Franzén (52) has been promoted to head. The Swede has worked as an assistant to Heinz Ehlers for the past six years, first in Lausanne and then in Langnau. In fact, it could not only be the cheapest, but also the technically best solution. The team has been put together according to the tactical wishes of Heinz Ehlers. It makes sense to hand over the job to a trainer who basically follows the same tactical lessons.

Rikard Franzén has signaled that he is ready to do the job – either way, his contract as an assistant would continue until the end of next season. He has a lot of respect in the cabin. Also because he repeatedly contradicted his boss Heinz Ehlers so violently that the exchange of words was clearly audible through the door of the trainer’s office.

Update: The story was updated after it was announced that Marc Eichmann would be the new sports director in Langnau.
