The Plenary Session of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) began this Thursday the discussion of the first of 10 pending consultations that will define whether or not this high court opens a review of the reform of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF); At the same time, outside the building, workers from that power demonstrate to call on the ministers to open the door to the analysis, since they accuse that the amendment violates their rights, the division of Powers and judicial independence.
The high court discusses the project of Minister Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá, which proposes to the Plenary to open a controversy of those provided for in article 11, section XVII, of the Organic Law of the Judicial Power of the Federation so that the Court can rule on the constitutional amendment.
The pending consultations, presented by judges and magistrates, ask to suspend the effects of the judicial reform. To be approved, the vote of six of the 11 ministers is needed.
