Kozhikode: The investigation team will issue a notice to the accused in the case of scissors stuck in Harshina’s stomach during delivery surgery. The notice is to appear before the Medical College ACP. The legal advice received by the police is that there is no obstacle to arresting the accused. As they are government employees, the investigation team will apply to the government seeking permission for prosecution. Four persons, including two doctors and two nurses, have been named accused in the case. The accused have decided to face the case legally. As part of this, an anticipatory bail application will be given.
Last day, the police submitted the revised charge sheet in the case. Now the first accused is Assistant Professor CK Ramesan of Mancheri Medical College. Dr. M Shahana, who works at a private hospital in Kottayam, M. Rahana and Manju KG, nurses of Kozhikode Medical College IMCCH, are the other accused. Dr. Ramesan was an assistant professor in the Department of Gynecology when Harshina underwent the cesarean section on November 30, 2017. Dr. Shahana Jr. Resident.
The police registered a case under the Medical Negligence Act. All the four accused will be issued notice to appear before the investigating officer. An application was also made to the court to exclude the doctors who were included in the accused list earlier. Meanwhile, Harshina is about to end her strike in front of the medical college.
