Jakarta: A group of scientists in the United States submitted a request to return Pluto to the ranks of planets in the Milkyway galaxy or Milkyway, the galaxy Earth is sheltered from.

Scientists now want to add a Pluto-like space rock near the Sun to the world’s officially recognized planetary lineup. According to the researchers, they provide evidence that the alignment of taxonomy with geological complexity is the most useful scientific taxonomy for planets.

Researchers also mention that the complexity of the primary and secondary planets is an important part of the chain of origin of life in the universe. Essentially, this means complex geological entities in space are able to meet the team’s proposed requirements for planetary status.
The lead author of this research report, Philip Metzger, said that the definition would represent 150 planets in Earth’s solar system. this means that every moon in the solar system, including Earth’s moon Luna, which is about one-third larger than Pluto’s diameter, will be considered a planet.
The reason for this is because Metzger’s team wanted to remove the qualifications for planetary status which dictated that an object must have a well-defined orbit of its own to be considered a planet.
This previously did not allow the moon, asteroids, and other celestial bodies in the solar system to gain planetary status. Thus, if Pluto were a planet, then almost as many as 200 moons and an infinite number of other celestial bodies would be in Earth’s solar system.
