Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The phenomenon of Prophet Moses splitting the sea with his miracles attracted a number of scientists to study further. Recently, a study was able to find out about the miracle when he parted the Red Sea in Israel.
Researchers from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU) in the United States used computer modeling. This was done so they could reconstruct a number of combinations of wind and waves to produce a dry earth bridge.
According to them, a strong east wind blowing all night pushed back the waters on the coast in northern Egypt. This apparently allowed Israelis to walk across the open mud land before the water closed again.
“This simulation fits the story in Exodus,” the study’s lead author, Carl Drews, was quoted as saying The GuardianSunday (7/5/2023).
“The separation of water can be understood by fluid dynamics. The wind moves the water in a way that complies with the laws of physics, creates a safe passage with water on both sides and then the water comes back in again.”
For this research, he used the research of previous scholars on ancient geography. This can reconstruct the possible locations and depths of a number of Nile delta waterways.
Drews used computer simulations to create conditions that could make the water that opens up dry land. He ruled out the Red Sea as a location because it ran north to south and did not fit the description in the Exods of water sweeping to one side.
Eventually used funds along the Mediterranean near Port Said. There winds of 63 mph can sweep the water back onto the muddy west coast and create a high, dry land bridge within four hours.
Meanwhile, other studies have speculated that the tsunami could make the Red Sea go backwards and forwards. But that doesn’t agree with the Bible about the sea gradually parting overnight.
