Scientists take advantage of technology artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence/AI) to enhance the image quality black hole the first to be photographed. As a result, the resolution of the photo of the Black Hole is astonishing.

As we know that taking pictures of black holes in the universe is very difficult because these objects are very dark. The previous images were the result of engineering aliases in the form of illustrations.

And, researchers from Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) managed to take photos of a black hole for the first time in April 2019, which has so far been mysterious. The black hole is known as M87 after the object’s location in the heart of the galaxy Messier 87.

Then, the scientist who is a member of the Event Horizon Telescope takes advantage of intelligence technology by using the latest machine learning techniques to sharpen images Black Hole M87.

AI they call PRIMO or Principal-Component Interferometic Modeling it managed to smoothen the image of the M87 Black Hole. Shown photo of the resulting Black Hole AI technology it got sharper than before.

Compared to the photo of the M87 Black Hole, the width of this AI-generated ring is smaller.

“PRIMO is a new approach to the difficult task of constructing images from EHT observations. It provides a way to compensate for the missing information about the observed object, which is necessary to produce images that will be visible using one giant radio telescope the size of Earth,” said Astrophysicist Lia Medeiros quoted from Space, Saturday (15/4/2023).

These results will certainly help scientists understand the characteristics Black holeas well as to better match actual observations of the object with theoretical predictions.

“Because we cannot study black holes up close, image detail plays an important role in our ability to understand their behavior.”
