Scientists transporting a rhinoceros upside down took the Antinobel Prize – World

Three American researchers have won the Anti-Nobel Peace Prize for testing the theory that the appearance of a man’s beard was associated with the need to protect the face in a fistfight, world agencies reported.

The 31st parody ceremony was supported by Harvard University in Massachusetts. She was online because of the coronavirus.

The award was presented by Nobel Laureate in Economics in 2007 Eric Maskin. Biologists Ethan Besseris, Stephen Neilway and David Carrier received it. The idea for their research came to them after one of their scientific disputes almost led to a fight. In an experiment with a human skull made of epoxy fibers and wrapped in sheared and in some places uncut sheepskin to resemble a beard, experts found that facial hair absorbs up to 37 percent of the energy of a single blow.

The Antinobel Prize is awarded “for achievements that make you laugh first and then think.” It was founded in 1991 by the Annals of Incredible Research as a parody of the Nobel Prizes. Since 1999, the anti-prize has been awarded in 10 districts, and some of the nominations coincide with those for the real Nobel Prizes.

Among the winners this year are researchers who have found out how to better control the cockroach population of American submarines, as well as experts who have studied whether transporting a rhino by air is not safer upside down.

The award in biology went to Susanna Schutz, a doctor of science from Sweden, for analyzing the spectrum of sounds emitted by domestic cats. Her award was presented by 2001 Nobel Laureate in Physics Eric Cornell. Instead of giving Schutz the right to express his gratitude, the organizers jokingly asked her to reproduce all the cat sounds she could think of. / BTA
