Scientists say there is no second earth, although habitable planets have been found

It is known that the ratio of the Earth between land and sea is 1: 3 so balanced that it supports life on it. Unlike most other planets, this relationship could easily turn out to be primarily terrestrial or predominantly maritime.

“We earthlings enjoy a balance between land and sea on our home planet. It is tempting to assume that a second Earth will be the same as ours, but our modeling results suggest that this is unlikely to happen, “said Tilman Spohn, executive director of the International Institute of Space Sciences.

The researchers came to this conclusion that conditions on Earth were created due to the relationship between water in the planet’s mantle and the recycling of continental masses through plate tectonics. Spohn and fellow researcher Dennis Honing, of the Potsdam Institute in Germany, concluded that the Earth’s mantle temperature cools down to 1,410 degrees Celsius near the crust and 3,700 degrees Celsius at deeper depths.

While subduction zones on the boundaries between tectonic plates can drain land water at these mantle temperatures, Earth takes 2.5 billion years. Until finally the Earth finds balance and can be inhabited by man.

“Our numerical models of how these cycles interact suggest that the Earth today could be an extraordinary planet,” Spohn said.

Spohn and Honing also considered other factors, such as how the release of carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) contributes to the carbon silicate cycle. This cycle acts as the planet’s long-term thermostat that controls the climate for millions of years.

This condition differs from the three planetary models which are estimated to be habitable by scientists’ discoveries. For an ocean-dominated planet with less than 10% land mass it is likely to be warm, with a humid atmosphere and a tropical climate.
