Scientists from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium have established a link between men’s life expectancy and the level of vitamin D in their bodies.
According to EurekAlert, 1970 men aged 40-79 with different health conditions, body weight and bad habits took part in the study.
The experts concluded that low levels of vitamin D metabolites, namely free 25-hydroxyvitamins, are the cause of many serious illnesses.
At the same time, a high level of this metabolite, with a high degree of probability, reduces the risk of cardiovascular, oncological and other fatal diseases.
