A group of Chinese scientists found a sinkhole or giant hole. What attracts attention, this hole is not like in general.
The hole, which was discovered in May 2022, has a depth of up to 192 meters. After being found, a team of speleologists and spelunkers immediately headed for the hole.
From the search results, it turns out that 3 cave entrances were found and ancient trees as high as 40 meters stretching their branches towards the sunlight, yaps the hole contains ancient forest.

According to international cave experts, this is a really cool find.
“This is a cool find,” said George Veni, Executive Director of the National Cave and Karst Research Institute (NCKRI) in the US, and an international cave expert.
Veni, who did not participate in the cave exploration, explained further that southern China is indeed an area prone to sinkhole formation.
“This discovery is not surprising, as southern China is home to karst topography, a landscape prone to dramatic sinkhole formation and caverns harboring ‘other worlds,'” said Veni.

Karst landscapes are formed by the dissolution of bedrock. Rainwater picks up carbon dioxide as it flows through the soil becoming more acidic. Then, the water drips, rushes, and flows through the cracks in the bedrock.
From year to year, this collection of water slowly widened into tunnels and cavities. If the cave space becomes large enough, the ceiling may gradually collapse and open a large hole.
The discovery of the giant hole is in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, near Ping’e village in Leye county.
