Scientists at the Medical University of Vienna have divided the signs of coronavirus infection into 7 main groups.
The results of this work were published in the journal “Allergy”. It is reported that as part of the study, they interviewed 109 patients with coronavirus and 98 patients from whom they took biomaterials.
Having studied biomaterials, doctors have established that all symptoms are interrelated and they can be divided into seven groups:
– signs similar to flu (weakness, fever, cough);
– cold symptoms (sore throat and nasal congestion);
– painful sensations in muscles and joints;
– inflammation of the mucous membranes;
– breathing problems (shortness of breath, pneumonia);
– digestive problems (nausea, diarrhea);
– lack of smell and taste.
In addition, they said that there are three forms of the course of the disease: mild (often invisible), moderate and severe. The impact of the disease is different, depending on groups of people and the person’s immunity. The elderly are most at risk of the disease. In most young and adults, the pathology proceeds calmly, without complications.
With a mild form, it can manifest itself: dry cough, fever, sore throat, increased fatigue.
A mild form can also pass unnoticed. You may not feel worsening of the condition and symptoms, but you may be a carrier. In addition, there are a lot of cases with an established disease after its course. That is why you need to wear protective equipment even if the disease, in your opinion, is bypassed.
In addition to the main symptoms, such as loss of smell and taste, headache, diarrhea, various pain sensations, skin rashes, depigmentation of nails on the hands and feet, and eye infections (conjunctivitis) are established.
There is also a severe form of coronavirus infection, the symptoms of which tend to increase over time.
If you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, impaired speech, movement, weakness, pain, or chest tightness, see your doctor immediately. Self-medication in this case can only do harm. In case of complications, hospitalization and medical supervision will be required.
Do not forget that the symptoms of the disease do not appear immediately. On average, it takes 4-6 days after infection, but in some cases it can take several weeks.
