The coronavirus pandemic could lead to a measles outbreak. This was warned by scientists from the Australian Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne.
As the magazine says Lancet, missed due to the spread of coronavirus in the world, vaccination of children against measles could lead to an outbreak of this disease. According to the study’s lead author, Institute professor Kim Mulholland, unvaccinated children are “almost 100% likely to have a measles epidemic next year.”
At the same time, the researchers named an increase in the level of poverty due to a decrease in economic activity as one of the predisposing factors for the outbreak of measles. We are also talking about the reduction of social assistance in many developing countries.
