A group of Chinese scientists have studied the mechanism that links chronic stress and an increased likelihood of fractures. Experts conducted two experiments, during the first of which volunteers were asked to work in a confined space and conditions similar to a space station. The second experiment was an experiment on laboratory mice.
As it turned out, the constant stress caused the bones to lose minerals. The role in this was played by the hormone somatostatin, which, in turn, reduces the synthesis of the hormone somatotropin.
